Indian Navy Appoints New Chief of Logistics

 On 1 July 2013, Vice Admiral Jaywant Korde took over as the Chief of Logistics of the Indian Navy on promotion to the rank of Vice Admiral. He took over charge on retirement of Vice Admiral Paras Nath.

Commissioned on 01 Jul 78, the Flag officer has held numerous challenging appointments onboard ships and establishments during his 35 years of commissioned service in the Navy. His Command appointments include CGS Kitturchennma, INS Hamla, the alma mater of logisticians and the Material Organisation (Mumbai).

As alumnus of the Naval Academy, he has also completed tenures across a wide spectrum including Controller of Material Planning (Visakhapatnam), Chief Staff Officer (Personnel and Administration) of Eastern Naval Command, Principal Director of Pay & Allowances, Assistant Controller of Logistics and Assistant Chief of Personnel (Admin and Civilians).

The Flag Officer is an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College, College of Defence Management and National Defence College.

The Flag Officer has been awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) for distinguished service.
