USS Enterprise (CVN 65) will return to Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) with shipbuilders on board on Thursday, June 20.


UK: Final Section of HMS Queen Elizabeth Heads for Rosyth

The final section of HMS Queen Elizabeth, the first of two new aircraft carriers being built for the UK Royal Navy, has left BAE Systems’ shipyard at Scotstoun today to embark on a 600 mile journey to Rosyth.

For the first time one of the Royal Navy’s new Type 45 destroyers has used two helicopters on front-line operations. HMS Dragon doubled her effectiveness for two months flying not the usual one, but two Lynx helicopters from her flight deck.


US, Chinese Ships Arrive Jointly in Brunei

Ships from the United States of America, T-AKE 9 U5N5 USS Matthew Perry and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), PEACE ARK arrived on June 16 to partake in the ASEAN Defense Minister’s Meeting Plus Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief & Military Medicine Exercise that started the following day, June 17 and will last until 20 June 2013.


USS Enterprise Makes Final Voyage to Newport News Shipyard

USS Enterprise (CVN 65) made her final voyage to the Newport News Shipyard June 20. The ship, nearly six months into her dismantling process, was moved by tugboat on the James River to Newport News Shipyard with almost 150 Newport News Shipbuilding and Huntington Ingalls Industries shipbuilders aboard.


Brazilian Sub BNS Tapajo Hosts US 4th Fleet Commander

Rear Admiral Sinclair Harris, Commander U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/Commander U.S. 4th Fleet visited the Brazilian submarine BNS Tapajo, June 20 at Naval Station Mayport. Tapajo was at Naval Station Mayport after completing a sustainment exercise (SUSTAINEX) with the USS Truman (CVN-75).
