Naval Patrol Craft Rescue Stranded Fishermen

Naval Craft, P 143 and P 225, attached to the South Eastern Naval Command of the Sri Lanka Navy rescued four fishermen stranded in the seas off Sangamankanda in the early hours of 12th June 2013.

Their fishing trawler named “Fathima Abhira” had become non-operational due to an engine defect.

The Navy was informed of the incident by the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic. Accordingly, under the direction of the Naval Headquarters, the South Eastern Naval Command dispatched the two Inshore Patrol Craft for a search and rescue operation. Subsequently, the fishing boat was towed to Oluwil Fisheries Habour for repairs.
