US Ambassador to Singapore Pays Visit to USS Nimitz

The U.S. Ambassador to Singapore, David I. Adelman, visited the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) for a tour and to convey his gratitude to the crew May 23.

“On behalf of the United States Embassy in Singapore and the American people, I wanted to express my appreciation for the service of the 5,000 Sailors here on the USS Nimitz,” said Adelman.

During his five-hour visit to Nimitz, the ambassador interacted with the crew. While he learned about their work spaces, he conversed with them and showed his thanks to the Sailors.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the work you are doing,” said Adelman. “You’re keeping the Americans safe at home and our friends and allies safe around the world. Thank you.”

Adelman has been U.S. ambassador to Singapore since March 2010. This was his first visit to Nimitz. While on board, Adelman toured several spaces including the foc’sle, squadron ready room, the flight deck, flight deck control and the pilot house.

Nimitz is part of Carrier Strike Group 11 which is currently on a deployment in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility conducting maritime security operations and theatre security cooperation efforts.
