BMT Appoints New Sector Director for Defence

BMT Group Ltd, the leading international maritime design, engineering and risk management consultancy, has announced that David Bright has been appointed Sector Director for Defence following the retirement of David Rainford who contributed significantly to BMT’s growth in defence markets.

David Bright has been with BMT since 2001, as Director of Operations at BMT Sigma since 2003 and as Managing Director of BMT Hi-Q Sigma since 2010.  During his time with BMT David has played a key role in driving business improvement and supporting the delivery of high value, complex programmes for the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD).  In particular, he has chaired reviews of some of the largest UK defence programmes and was responsible for developing and advising on the partnering approaches used during the second refit period of HMS Illustrious, recognised as being the ‘Gold Standard’ by the National Audit Office.

Peter French, Chief Executive of BMT Group comments:

“I am delighted to welcome David to his new role in an appointment that will continue to strengthen BMT’s position in the global defence arena. BMT’s capabilities in this sector have evolved to mirror the changing requirements of our customers and it is important that we maintain that flexibility and customer focus. With the anticipated structural changes within the UK and mix of opportunity and uncertainty in international defence markets, David’s depth and breadth of knowledge and experience gained from working with the MOD will be invaluable.”
