US Coast Guard Commissions Cutter Robert Yered

The US Coast Guard Cutter Robert Yered was commissioned on Feb. 15, 2013 at Coast Guard Base Miami Beach, Fla. The cutter Robert Yered is the fourth Sentinel-class Fast Response Cutter to be commissioned and is capable of conducting missions such as ports, waterways and coastal security, fishery patrols, drug and illegal migrant law enforcement, search and rescue, and national-defense operations.

Rear Adm. William D. Baumgartner, commander of the Seventh Coast Guard District, spoke of Robert Yered’s heroism during the commissioning ceremony. The cutter Robert Yered is the fourth commissioned Sentinel-class Fast Response Cutter named after Coast Guard enlisted heroes.

Lori Geddis, who is the daughter of Robert Yered, sponsored the Coast Guard Cutter Robert Yered.

The crewmembers of the Coast Guard Cutter Yered manned the rail of the cutter for the first time and saluted during its commissioning ceremony, symbolizing their official manning of their stations.
