Sri Lanka Navy Apprehends 54 Persons Illegally Bound for Australia

Sri Lanka Navy arrested 54 persons illegally bound for Australia in a multi-day trawler on 07th February 2013. The trawler named “Kalyani” was intercepted 12 nautical miles east of Kalmunai by a fast Naval patrol craft attached to the Eastern Naval Command.

Among the arrested are 40 men, 6 women and 8 children. They were brought to Trincomalee Harbour to be handed over to the CID for further investigations.
