Executive Officer of USS Gary Relieved

The executive officer of the guided missile frigate USS Gary (FFG 51) was temporarily relieved Feb. 3 due to loss of confidence because of offensive comments and behavior towards the crew. Cmdr. The executive officer of the guided missile frigate USS Gary (FFG 51) was temporarily relieved Feb. 3 due to loss of confidence because of offensive comments and behavior towards the crew.

Cmdr. James Pickens was relieved by the Commander of Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 1, Capt. Mike Elliot. Lt. Andrew J. Greenlees , the ship’s operations officer, has assumed the duties as acting executive officer.

Pickens has been temporarily reassigned to the staff of DESRON 1.

Gary is an Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigate currently deployed to the U.S. 4th Fleet area of responsibility.
