Indian Navy Teams Kick Off Lakshadweep Sailing Race

Six boats with a crew of 5 each, set sail from Kochi on 7th Jan 13 on a race to Lakshadweep Islands and back in the Offshore sailing race conducted by Offshore Sailing Club.

Vice Admiral Satish Soni, Flag Officer Commanding in Chief, Southern Naval Command flagged off the race. Two Navy teams from Mumbai, one each from Kochi and Indian Naval Academy Ezhimala and two Indian Army teams from Hyderabad and Bhopal are participating in the race.

The 350 mile race will touch Androth Island and head back to Kochi and is expected to be flagged in on 14th January.

Ships and aircraft of Southern Naval Command including INS Tarangini will be at sea to monitor the race.
