General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics , was competitively awarded a task order by the General Services Administration Federal Systems Integration and Management Center to be the single-service provider for consolidated information technology (IT) enterprise services and support for the National Defense University (NDU). The five-year contract has a potential value of $39.9 million, if all options are exercised.

Under this contract, General Dynamics will deliver enterprise service desk, data center and application support services that enable NDU to more efficiently and effectively use IT resources throughout the enterprise with minimum service disruption. The company will provide reliable network availability, information assurance services, server administration and maintenance, systems engineering and network operation and maintenance to all five NDU colleges: Dwight D. Eisenhower School of National Security and Resource Strategy (ES), National War College (NWC), Joint Forces Staff College (JFSC), Information Resources Management College (IRMC) and the College of International Security Affairs (CISA).

“Enterprise IT is driving innovation for defense, intelligence and civilian government agencies, including infrastructure consolidation and modernization, cross-domain information sharing and cloud computing,” said Zannie Smith, senior vice president of General Dynamics Information Technology’s National and Homeland Security division . “General Dynamics has extensive experience operating, managing and maintaining cost-effective enterprise IT solutions, and we look forward to providing NDU with secure solutions that are developed for today and sustainable for the future.”

Building on its enterprise IT experience with customers including the Defense Information Systems Agency, U.S. Army Information Technology Agency and U.S. Army Reserve Command, General Dynamics Information Technology designs, develops, operates and sustains enterprise capabilities needed to secure networks and data and modernize IT systems.

NDU is the premier U.S. center for professional military education and is under the direction of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The mission of the university is to support the joint warfighter by providing rigorous joint professional military education to members of the U.S. armed forces and select others in order to develop leaders who have the ability to operate and creatively think in an unpredictable and complex world. NDU is an internationally recognized graduate-level university with five colleges and multiple centers of excellence focused on education, research and outreach in national security matters.
