US Navy Sends Warships to Libyan Waters

The U.S. Navy’s Arleigh Burke-class destroyers USS Laboon and USS McFaul have deployed for Libyan waters anent the death of four Americans killed in an attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, including the U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens, Xinhua reports citing local media.

The said deployment forms part of the U.S. intention to reinforce security in the area as a precautionary measure, even though, according to the U.S. President Barrack Obama the mutual relations of the two countries will not be compromised the  justice will be done, BBC reports.

Accordingly, the U.S. destroyers will remain in the waters in case a decision on undertaking action against the militant groups suspected of the attack is made.

The State Department is undertaking efforts to evacuate embassy personnel from the country amid rising safety concerns prompted by the attack.

The outburst of violence in the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi was caused by a US-made film which the militant groups claim to be insulting to the Prophet Muhammad.
