35th Edition of World Port Days Held in Rotterdam, The Netherlands

Last weekend, the 35th edition of the World Port Days were held in Rotterdam (The Netherlands). Damen Shipyards Group looks back on three successful days. Thousands of visitors got to know Damen through visiting the Damen stand or one of the many Damen-built vessels that participated in the event.

Several hundreds of visitors toured a newly built Fast Crew Supplier 5009. The FCS 5009, a 50 m vessel with the Damen Sea Axe bow, is used for crew, fuel oil, water and equipment supply to offshore platforms. In addition, the displayed vessel will soon start its service as a Safety Standby Vessel in the Middle East, for which it is outfitted with a fast rescue boat and a FiFi system. Many companies using Damen tugs, workboats or survey vessels, such as the Rotterdam Port Authority and SMIT, gave demonstrations on the River Maas.

The Royal Netherlands Navy had a particularly impressive presence with, amongst others, the Air-Defence Command Frigate ‘Hr. Ms. De Ruyter’ and the Offshore Patrol Vessel ‘HNLMS Zeeland’, both designed and built by Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding in Vlissingen (The Netherlands).

As icing on the cake the SIGMA Class Frigate ´Allal Ben Abdellah´ was ceremonially transferred to the Royal Moroccan Navy on the 8th of September. The frigate is the last of a series of three and marks the culmination of a period of dedicated and successful partnership with the Royal Moroccan Navy. All three ships were delivered on time, on schedule and meet all customer requirements.
