Nigerian navy has rescued twenty eight oil workers of Sinopec Corp., a Chinese petroleum company in the Niger Delta, who had been kidnapped by a gang called the Lapto Marine Force on Thursday,  the Associated Press informs.

According to the navy spokesman Commodore Kabir Aliyu’s statement from yesterday, the workers have been found in an abandoned waterside camp in Cross River state, whereas the kidnappers already fled the site before the arrival of authorities.

“The gang … has been terrorizing people around Bakassi waterways, killing, robbing, as well as engaging in piracy and abduction,” he added.
