HMAS Perth is savouring its RIMPAC 2012 experience, taking out the coveted Gunnery championship trophy.

Naval Surface Fire Support (NSFS) Rodeo Championship was judged on consistency of accuracy, measured from the distance from the aim point to the observed impact point. The results are measured using an acoustic range which provides a high degree of accuracy in measurement.

The award is a special honour for Perth ’s Operations and Weapons Electric team.

POET Sarah Lindsay was one of those who helped Perth secure the cup. “We have a great team on board, and it’s great to see the hard work pay off with an award like this,” POET Lindsay said.

“The team have worked solidly throughout the year, since starting with system alignment early this year, then workups and ongoing system grooming and training ever since. The award caps off a particularly rewarding deployment for Perth. 22 Nations took part in RIMAPC this year.“

HMAS Perth now heads to Darwin for Exercise KAKADU.
