HMS Example Takes Part in Germany's 130th Kieler Woche

HMS Example, currently deployed to the Baltic in company with HMS Ranger, HMS Trumpeter and HMS Explorer has spent the past 9 days taking part in Germany’s 130th Kieler Woche.

This annual festival is the largest Summer festival in Northern Europe attracting more than three million visitors from all over the world.

The week started with the four Ships joining the convoy from numerous nations including Germany, Poland, United States of America, Russia, Norway, Holland, Denmark to name just a few, for the Entering Port ceremony.

Upon arrival the events commenced with the four Commanding Officers calling upon local dignitaries whilst the Ship was opened to visitors, attracting a significant level of interest!

Representing the Royal Navy, alongside HMS St Albans, the Ship’s company and students were proud to take part in Remembrance services and wreath laying ceremonies at both the Naval Memorial at Laboe and at the Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery at Nordfriedhof.

As well as their official commitments, Kieler Woche also enabled plenty of opportunities for the Ship’s company and Students to visit Kiel and enjoy the festivities, both ashore and within the Naval base.

The four P2000s are now continuing with their 12 week deployment to the Baltic, ready for further engagement with the maritime community, commencing with a visit to Flensburg Naval Academy.
