Former USS Intrepid (CV 11) Sailors served hoagies and salads to Sailors and Marines aboard the multipurpose amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) May 26.
The Intrepid Sailors visit ships every Fleet Week to show support for military service.
“It’s awesome that they once sacrificed their time for our country, and they are giving their time now for people in the military,” said Yeoman Seaman Felicia Rogers . “It’s another tangible representation of the support people have for us.”
Rogers said she appreciated the opportunity to meet the Intrepid Sailors.
“I’m happy about being able to help and serve Sailors and Marines,” said Michael Horvath , a former crew member of Intrepid and USS Tortuga (LSD 26). “I put in 20 years. I know what these Sailors and Marines sacrifice.”
Robert Lillie, a former lithographer in the Navy, said he loves the experience.
“ We are a few people from Intrepid doing a lot, ” said Lillie. “It’s great to be able to meet these heroes.”
