Netherlands Defence Organisation Joins NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence

 

In order to strengthen its knowledge and expertise regarding cyber threats, the Netherlands Defence organisation has joined the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence. The official membership ceremony was held in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, on 24 April.

The Netherlands is the eleventh nation to join the centre, which was established in recognition of the advantages of collective action against cyber attacks. One important feature of cyber incidents is that they can rapidly spread through IT structures without regard for national boundaries. The other members of the organisation are: Germany, Estonia, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Spain, Slovakia and the United States.

Knowledge positionThis military centre of expertise, affiliated to NATO, has been carrying out research into technology, policy and legal aspects surrounding cyber threats since 2008. In addition, member nations exchange expertise during exercises involving simulated cyber attacks.
