Australia: Ford Performance Racing’s ‘Team Navy’ Meets with Sailors

Ford Performance Racing’s ‘Team Navy’ Meets with Sailors

Ford Performance Racing’s ‘Team Navy’ dropped in to HMAS Stirling today to meet with Sailors, ahead of this weekend’s V8 Supercar Development Series round at Barbagallo, Western Australia.

‘Team Navy’ driver Chaz Mostert showed interested Marine Technical Sailors around the engine of his Navy branded Ford FG Falcon V8 Supercar.

The Sailors then returned the favour by giving Mostert and his team tours of the Anzac Class Frigate HMAS Toowoomba, and the Collins Class Submarine HMAS Farncomb.

Last year the Royal Australian Navy announced an exciting five year partnership with Ford Performance Racing which will give two Marine Technical Sailors the opportunity to work as mechanics for ‘Team Navy’, every year, until the end of 2016.

The Mechanics selected for this year’s outplacement program, PO Clint McGregor and LS Ashley Schmidt, spoke to HMAS Stirling personnel about their experiences, and recommended the program to Marine Technicians in the West.

The partnership has proven to be a winning formula in 2012, with Team Navy currently leading the V8 Supercar Development Series ladder.
