Sri Lankan Navy Arrests Persons Stealing Iron from Historic Ship Wreck

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Dakshina of the Southern Naval Command on information received arrested 05 persons stealing iron from an historic ship wreck in the Southern seas off Boossa on 18th March 2012.

A piece of iron weighing 20 kilograms sawn off from the sunk ship and diving equipment were also taken into custody along with an OBM-fitted improvised craft used for smuggling the loot. The arrested were handed over to Galle Harbour Police for further investigations.
