Naval personnel on naval craft Z 227 and Z 238 attached to North-western Naval Command on routine patrol arrested 04 persons with gelignite charges used for illegal fishing in the seas west of Arippu on 12th March 2012.
They had attempted to throw the illegal explosives into the sea on seeing the approach of the naval patrol craft. The arrested persons along with the items in their possession were handed over to Silawathura Police for further investigations.
