Russia and the US tied an agreement providing exchange of telemetry data about intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) launches, reports ITAR-TASS . The document was signed during session of START-3 bilateral consultative commission convened since Jan 24 till Feb 7 in Geneva.
The new agreement determines volume of information the parties will provide each other, and contain data on number of ICBM launches in 2012. The START-3 bilateral consultative commission must conduct at least two sessions a year. The first one convened in March-April 2011.
The START-3 Treaty tied between Russia and the US in spring 2010 took effect early 2011. The document limits the number of deployed nuclear warheads at the level of 1,550 for each party. It was reported in Feb 2011 that the US had guaranteed the treaty implementation by informing Russia on the number of Trident ballistic missiles sold to Great Britain. British strategic arsenal is a part of America’s nuclear planning system since 1962.
