Black Sea Fleet Frigate Ladny Returns to Sevastopol, Ukraine

Black Sea Fleet (BSF) frigate Ladny on Jan 10 had completed her mission within the Russian Navy’s carrier group in the Mediterranean Sea and returns to Sevastopol, reports RIA Novosti referring to Capt 2 rank Nikolai Voskresensky, spokesman for BSF.

“BSF frigate Ladny has accomplished her mission in the task force and laid a course for Black Sea straits; the ship is expected to return to Sevastopol on Jan 13″, he said.

Voskresensky added that the frigate had left the home base on Dec 4, 2011 and paid formal calls at ports of Malta, France, and Spain. The crewmen held numerous meetings with local authorities and replenished water, fuel, and food supplies there.

Russian Navy’s carrier group departed from Severomorsk, Murmansk region on Dec 6, 2011. The force led by aircraft-carrying cruiser Admiral Kuznetsov also comprised large ASW ship Admiral Chabanenko and supply vessels – rescue tug Nikolai Chiker, tankers Sergei Osipov, Vyazma, and Kama.

Later on, Baltic Fleet frigate Yaroslav Mudry, tanker Lena, and BSF frigate Ladny joined the Northern Fleet naval mariners.
