CNMOC Visits Naval Research Laboratory at Stennis Space Center

Rear Adm. Jonathan White, commander of the Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command (CNMOC), visited the Naval Research Laboratory at Stennis Space Center, Miss., on Monday, Dec. 5.

Though CNMOC is headquartered at Stennis Space Center, the admiral had not taken a complete tour of the lab and its facilities since assuming command in 2009.

White spent more than four hours at the lab, touring both the Oceanography and Marine Geosciences Divisions and the Acoustic Simulation Measurements and Tactics Section to learn more about the lab mission, current research projects and capabilities and future plans.

Following his visit, White told Capt. Bob Kiser, the military deputy for the Marine Geosciences Division and the tour coordinator, that he was very impressed with what he learned about NRL.

“Today has greatly broadened my appreciation for the technical expertise and professionalism that NRL brings to the Naval Oceanography community,” said White. “Please thank the NRL team for their efforts in preparing for this EXCELLENT tour.”
