Finland Authorities Detain Mann-Registered Ship for Smuggling Missiles, Explosives

Finland authorities restrained last week a Mann-registered ship for smuggling missiles and explosives out of the country.

Police conducted a research after dock workers discovered explosive material stored on open pallets.

Officials at the port of Kotka found sixty nine Patriot defense missiles and 150 tons of general explosives inside containers labeled and manifested as “fireworks”.

It is believed that the missiles might have originated from an official shipment of missiles from Germany to South Korea however the facts remain unclear as well as the port of destination.
The ship is now free to leave.

The missiles, the ship’s captain and first mate are being held in custody until further legal proceedings
