Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation Intends to Procure 2 to 3 SRS Vessels

 

The Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation (NDLO) intends to procure 2 to 3 ‘Search & Rescue Service Vessels’ (SRS Vessel).

The SRS vessels will be subject to demanding technical and functional requirements. The SRS vessels will mainly work as a safety and rescue vessel for the Armed Forces of Norway. The areas of use will be both in sheltered waters and the open sea. Details regarding operational use and specification of the SRS vessels are security classified information.

The Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation (NDLO), was established January 1st 2002. Several separate units were responsible for logistics in the Norwegian Defence before this time. High demands of becoming more cost efficient have been and still is the driving force behind necessary changes.

The NDLO shall deliver logistics according to military needs. This includes procurement, investment, support, supply and maintenance of all weapon systems and military materiel in times of peace, crises and war. The NDLO is also responsible for managing communication and computer systems.

Common to all of the NDLO’s business, is that our organisation will support the training and equipment of forces: The Army, The Navy, The Air force and The Home Guard. Commanding officer of NDLO is Major General Trond R. Karlsen. A Corporate Staff supports him.
