Sri Lanka Navy Successfully Completes  Series of Medical Camps

As part of Navy’s Community Welfare Projects, another series of successful field medical and dental camps was held at Allappidi, Nagadeepa, Punguduthive Island, Mandathive Island, Keeramalai and Delft Island on 01st ,07th ,18th ,24th and 30th November 2011 respectively.

These camps were organized by SLNS Kanchadeva, SLNS Gotaimbara, SLNS Welusumana, SLNS Agbo and SLNS Wasaba with the assistance of Command Medical Organization. So far 57th such medical camps have been conducted providing medical assistance to over thousand civilians of the area.

Among the medical facilities provided were screening of child growth / development problems, identification of congenital health problems and treatment of a large number of diseases at primary health care Level. ENT diseases, Common dental diseases and Skin diseases also were treated while patients needing specialist attention were referred to Jaffna Teaching Hospital.

The continued project of providing medical assistance to civilian population in the area is a classic example of humanitarian mission by Sri Lanka in post conflict era to win hearts and minds of the people in the North.
