Scheduled drills of Northern Fleet (NF) ship-based fighter wing headed by Col Evgeny Kuznetsov are going on. Pilots practice interception of air target, imitate air fight, and improve aerobatic skills in severe weather conditions, told NF Information Support Group to Central Navy Portal.

In Nov 2011 pilots of the wing will take part in long-range cruise of aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov . During preparation for the cruise, the wing command laid stress on training of young pilots. In this year, 3 pilots landed on the deck of Admiral Kuznetsov by Su-33 fighters for the first time – flight commanders Capt Stanislav Avdin , Maj Andrei Pestov , and Capt Vyacheslav Lunin .

In total, there have been 11 flight shifts and 114 hook arrests of Su-33 and Su-25UTG performed during NF deck-landing drills in the Barents Sea.
