Navy, CISF Police Force Attend Joint Training

A five day joint training camp of the Kochi Police, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Squadron of Southern Naval Command and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) of Cochin International Airport (CIAL) is underway from 17 Oct 11 at Naval Base, Kochi.  

The aim of the camp is to enhance interoperability and share professional expertise in the field of anti sabotage and bomb disposal between the Navy and the security agencies. The camp would undertake  demonstrations, lectures and interactive sessions on diffusing Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) and other ordnance. The camp is also expected to draw up Standard Operating Procedures for enhancing interoperability between the forces in the event of a requirement.

The participants comprising of 20 personnel each from the Navy and Kochi Police/CISF would also visit Naval Armament Depot Aluva and CIAL for live demonstrations and practical training sessions.

Commander AS Patankar, Officer in Charge Command Clearance Diving Team of Southern Naval Command hosted the event. Commandant Ajay Dahiya and Mr Baburaj from CIAL and Assistant Commandant Ivan Rathinam of Armed Reserve Police lead their respective teams. Mr MR Ajith Kumar, DIG, Commissioner of Police, Kochi City and Commodore Ajay Saxena Chief Staff Officer Operations Southern Naval Command are expected to attend the concluding session on 21st October.
