Russia: Sevmash Shipyard Represents Arctic Interests at SevTEK-2011

Sevmash shipyard took part in 7th international exhibition SevTEK-2011 closed on Sept 30 in Murmansk.

The exhibition was arranged in order to promote development of fuel and energy sector, logistic, power and industrial capabilities of Russia’s Euro-Arctic region. It was conducted on the initiative of Murmansk regional administration, Russian union of industrialists and entrepreneurs, and Murmansk regional guild of manufacturers.

Over 100 Russian and foreign companies attended the exhibition. Sevmash shipyard was the only representative of Arkhangelsk at that significant international forum.

JSC Sevmash represented various civil shipbuilding projects. Offshore ice-resistant fixed platform Prirazlomnaya aroused keen interest, since it is Russia’s first project of Arctic shelf exploration. Experts say the next step in this direction would be exploitation of the Stockman gas condensate field. Murmansk Governor Dmitry Dmitrienko visited Sevmash‘s stand and pointed out that joint work on completion of Prirazlomnaya platform was good starting point for partnership between Murmansk region and Sevmash in Arctic shelf development. According to Mr. Dmitrienko, implementation of this project plus Sevmash‘s experience in servicing of Russian Navy bases make possible to expand repair facilities and start cooperation in building of nuclear-powered icebreakers and auxiliary vessels.

Sevmash‘s stand attracted attention of many Russian and foreign experts. The shipyard’s negotiators talked with representatives of French oil concern Total, Norwegian oil producing company Statoil, suppliers of equipment and materials from Canada, Finland, and numerous Russian regions – Moscow, Yaroslavl, Murmansk, Vologda etc.

Deputy Chief Designer of Sevmash Vasily Kuzmin took part in IV international conference “Arctic Shelf Exploration: Step by Step” held within the framework of the exhibition. Scientists, directors of leading companies, representatives of public organizations, and ecologists discussed issues of partnership among Russian and foreign companies in field developments of the Norwegian, the Barents, and the Kara seas.

As a result, delegation of Sevmash was awarded diploma for active participation in 7th international exhibition SevTEK-2011.
