Russia: Aircraft-Carrying Cruiser’s Overhaul Illegally Overestimated

Procuracy investigation found out that the cost of repair operations at aircraft-carrying cruiser Admiral Kuznetsov was corruptly overestimated.

According to investigators, when calculating repair cost, Director of Northern Fleet Technical Dept Rear Admiral Viktor Bursuk did not engage officers of acceptance board and financial experts. Finally, cost of repair works was overrated.

Thus, RUR 9.7 mln was appropriated from the state budget to the work executor – 35th Ship Repair Plant (affiliate of Zvezdochka shipyard).

At present, procuracy is about to initiate a criminal case against Bursuk charging him of access of service power.
