The Naval Service vessel LE Ciara detained a Belgian registered fishing vessel approximately 25 nautical miles South West of Tusker Rock.
The detention was in relation to an alleged breach of fishing regulations. The vessel was escorted by the LE Ciara Rosslare Harbour, Co. Wexford and arrived alongside at a 00.15am this morning and handed over to the Gardai.
The Naval Service have carried out 852 boardings and eight detentions of vessels off the Irish coast in 2011.
