USA: Secretary of Navy, Chief of Naval Operations Announce Flag Officer Assignments

 

Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead announced the following assignments July 15:

Rear Adm. (lower half) Mark J. Belton, who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral, will be assigned as commander, Navy Expeditionary Logistics Support Group, Williamsburg, Va. Belton is currently serving as reserve director, supply, Ordnance and Logistics Operations Division, N41, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

Rear Adm. (lower half) Sean S. Buck will be assigned as commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Group, Norfolk, Va. Buck is currently serving as commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Fifth/Seventh Fleet, Misawa, Japan.

Capt. Althea H. Coetzee, who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as executive director, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Acquisition and Procurement), Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Research, Development and Acquisition) Washington, D.C. Coetzee previously served as reserve program manager, Detachment 106, N4, Military Sealift Command, Washington, D.C.

Rear Adm. Janice M. Hamby will be assigned as military deputy to the Chief of Information Office, Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Networks and Information Integration, Washington, D.C. Hamby previously served as vice director of command, control, communications, and computer systems, J-6, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

Capt. Kerry M. Metz, who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as deputy commander, Special Operations Command, U.S. Central Command, MacDill AFB, Fla. Metz is currently serving as commander, Naval Special Warfare Group Eleven, San Diego, Calif.

Rear Adm. (lower half) Gregory M. Nosal will be assigned as commander, Carrier Strike Group Two, Norfolk, Va. Nosal is currently serving as associate director, Assessment Division, N81D, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

Capt. Scott A. Stearney, who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as commander, Joint Enabling Capabilities Command, U.S. Transportation Command, Suffolk, Va. Stearney is currently serving as chief of staff, Strike Force Training Atlantic, Norfolk, Va.
