USA: Ray Mabus, Adm. Gary Roughead Announce Flag Officer Assigments

Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead announced the following assignments June 17:

Rear Adm. (lower half) Richard P. Breckenridge will be assigned as commander, Submarine Group Two, Groton, Conn. Breckenridge is currently serving as deputy director, Submarine Warfare Division, N87B, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

Rear Adm. (lower half) Vincent L. Griffith will be assigned as assistant deputy chief of staff for Fleet Readiness/Fleet Supply Officer, N4B, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, Va. Griffith is currently assigned as commander, Defense Logistics Agency, aviation, Richmond, Va.

Rear Adm. (lower half) Matthew L. Klunder will be assigned as chief of naval research/director, test and evaluation and technology requirements, N091, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C. Klunder is currently serving as director, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities, N2/N6F2, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

Rear Adm. (lower half) Kevin J. Kovacich will be assigned as associate director, Assessment Division, N81D, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C. Kovacich is currently serving as deputy director, J-35, future operations, U.S. Forces Iraq.

Rear Adm. (lower half) William E. Leigher , who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral, will be assigned as director of concepts, strategies and integration for information dominance, N2/N6F, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C. Leigher is currently serving as deputy commander, Fleet Cyber Command/deputy commander, Tenth Fleet, Fort Meade, Md.

Rear Adm. (lower half) Michael C. Manazir will be assigned as commander, Carrier Strike Group Eight, Norfolk, Va. Manazir is currently serving as head, Naval Aviation Programs, N880, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

Capt. Glenn C. Robillard, who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as deputy chief of staff for logistics, fleet supply and ordnance, N4, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Robillard is currently assigned as commander, Navy Exchange Service Command, Norfolk, Va.

Rear Adm. (lower half) Thomas K. Shannon will be assigned as commander, Carrier Strike Group One, San Diego, Calif. Shannon is currently serving as deputy chief of staff for operations, training and readiness, N3/N7, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Rear Adm. (lower half) Clifford S. Sharpe will be assigned as chief operating officer, N7, Naval Education and Training Command, Norfolk, Va. Sharp is currently serving as commander, Carrier Strike Group Eight, Norfolk, Va.

Rear Adm . (lower half) Dixon R. Smith will be assigned as commander, Navy Region Southwest, San Diego, Calif. Smith is currently serving as commander, Navy Region Hawaii/commander, Naval Surface Group, MIDPAC, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Rear Adm . (lower half) Jonathan A. Yuen will be assigned as commander, Fleet and Industrial Supply Centers, San Diego, Calif.
