Sri Lanka Sailors Pass Out at SLNS Parakumba in Sampoor

 

Six hundred and Fifty two (652) recruits belonging to the 202nd, 203rd Intakes of the Regular Naval Force of the Sri Lanka Navy and Artificer sailors of 2nd Direct Entry batch-2010, passed out in a colourful Passing Out Parade held at SLNS Parakumba in Sampoor on 30th April 2011. Director General Logistics Rear Admiral Dhushyantha Molligoda graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and took the salute.

Commander Eastern Naval Area Rear Admiral Jayanath colombage, Senior Naval officers, officers from other Forces and the Police and family members of the sailors passing out, attended the event. The 202nd Intake which comprised of 286 recruits, was trained at SLNS Shiksha in Poonewa while the 203rd intake which comprised of 349 recruits, was trained at SLNS Parakumba in Sampoor. 17 Artificer sailors were trained at SLNS Thakshila.

At a well-executed drill display, the newly passed-out sailors exhibited their acquired skills and talents. In appreciation of Sailors who showed excellence during their training were presented with awards. In the 202nd Intake, Recruit WPKAK Banda clinched the both awards for the Best Recruit and the Best Sportsman. Recruit EAW Ranmuka won the award for the highest aggregate score in all subjects. Recruit AP Kannangara was adjudged the Best Marksman.Best division was Suranimala.

In the 203rd Intake, Recruit WSP Kumara won the award for the Best Recruit. Recruit PDG Kumarasiri won the award for the highest aggregate score in all subjects. Recruit DAPA Dissanayake was selected as the Best Marksman. Recruit PGSA Herath was adjudged the Best Sportsman. Devaba division was adjudged as the best division.

In the Artificer Intake, Artificer BEDP Bulathgama clinched both awards for the Best Recruit and for the highest aggregate score in all subjects. Arificer DEK Wimalasooriya won the award for the Best Sportsman. Artificer APDD Kumara was selected as the Best Marksman.
