Elbit bags $49M US Navy helmet display contract

Elbit Systems of America, a subsidiary of Israel-based Elbit Systems has received a $49.8 million contract from the Naval Surface Warfare Center for the delivery of MH-60 helmet display tracker systems (HDTS).

Under the contract, Elbit is to deliver a maximum of 126 of the systems and associated line items for the navy’s MH-60 helicopters.

The HDTS provides the pilots with both night and day capability to see color flight instrument symbols on their helmet mounted display (HMD) modules. Additionally, the line of sight tracking system enables the pilots to interact with the flight navigation system, improves pilot and copilot situational awareness, and can also be used to control pilot or copilot slewable sensor systems.

The system also provides a continuously computed impact point for the 20mm automatic gun helicopter armament subsystem, 2.75-inch unguided rockets (LAU-61C/A), and precision guided rockets (digital rocket launcher (DRL, LAU-61G/A)).

Work will be performed in Fort Worth, Texas, and is expected to be completed by June 2021.
