HMS Severn to Take Part in Trafalgar Day Commemorations

Tyneside welcomes Royal Navy’s HMS Severn and its crew this week as part of the annual Trafalgar Day commemorations.

The Royal Navy patrol vessel will sail into the river Tyne today, October 20th, for a four-day visit, berthing in Northumbrian Quay.

During the visit, members of the 35-strong crew will take part in events on Wednesday.

Lieutenant Commander Steve Banfield said:

My ship’s company and I always really look forward to visiting North Shields.

It is great to be able to show off our ship and demonstrate that the Royal Navy is active around the UK.

HMS Severn visits North Shields regularly and was berthed there last month with two more visits scheduled this year. The vessel is scheduled to depart on Friday.
