US MSC Awards USNS Mercy Dry-Docking Deal

US Navy’s Military Sealift Command awarded a contract for a regular overhaul/dry-docking to support USNS Mercy (T-AH 19).

The contract, worth $11,7 million, will be undertaken by Vigor Marine and includes six optional work items which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $12,6 million.

This overhaul will address numerous steel repairs; flight deck resurfacing; fuel oil, feed, and potable water tank repairs; sewage piping modifications; fire main piping replacements; annual crane inspections; and underwater hull preservation to support in the ship’s daily operations.

Work will be performed in Portland, Oregon, and is expected to be completed by the end of January 2016.
