Weapon Smuggling Vessel Stopped in the Arabian Sea

The US Navy said a member nation of a US-backed coalition ship found illicit arms on board a vessel believed to be of Iranian origin.

According to Voice of America, a US navy official said that the majority of weapons was thrown overboard but a part was saved for analysis by the crew of USS Forrest Sherman.

As Agence France-Presse writes, a Saudi led coalition has confirmed that the ship was of Iranian origin thanks to papers found on board the vessel.

The weapons seized include 18 anti-armoured Concourse shells, 54 anti-tank BGM17 shells, 15 shell battery kits, four firing guidance systems, five binocular batteries, three launchers, one launchers’ holder and three batteries.
