On Wednesday 5 August 2015, the Operation Atalanta Serbian Maritime Protection team that has been embarked on World Food Programme (WFP) vessel, MSM Douro, for the past four months to protect it from potential pirate attack, handed over the role to a team from Lithuania.

The handover ceremony between the Lithuanian and Serbian forces took place in Djibouti on board MV Douro.

As a result of the close protection given by Operation Atalanta maritime teams and warships, no WFP ship carrying humanitarian aid to the Somali people has been attacked by Somali pirates.
