Congressional Delegation Tours USS Shoup

The officers and crew of the guided missile destroyer USS Shoup (DDG 86) welcomed a congressional delegation (CODEL) led by U.S. Rep. Bradley Byrne (R-Ala.) for a ship tour, April 18.

Cmdr. Bryant Trost, Shoup’s commanding officer, led the tour which consisted of a combat systems equipment room, combat information center, and the multi-function tow array handling room to illustrate the anti-air and anti-submarine warfare capabilities of the ship.

Following the visit, Byrne complimented the Shoup crew on their dedication and perseverance to duty.

Shoup is currently entering the basic phase of its training cycle, where all mission critical warfare areas are strenuously trained and tested for future operations and an upcoming deployment.
