Spanish Navy’s Patrol Boat Responds to Distress Call

The Spanish Navy’s patrol boat Serviola (P-71) was called in for an emergency aboard Moisés Daniel fishing trawler.

One of the vessel’s crew members needed immediate medical attention.

The patrol vessel received a distress call from the trawler on Friday, which was five miles away from its position.

Once in the vicinity, Serviola offered assistance, and transferred the fisherman aboard, and later to an ambulance.

Serviola is currently conducting maritime security operations in the waters of the northwest peninsula. The vessel’s primary mission, as the unit of Maritime Action Force, is the protection of national interests in the maritime areas of sovereignty, with special attention to the Territorial Sea and Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
