USS Simpson Docks in Port Louis, Mauritius

The guided-missile frigate USS Simpson (FFG 56) arrived in Port Louis, Mauritius for a scheduled port visit Jan. 28, 2015.

This port visit serves to continue U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa/U.S. 6th Fleet’s efforts to build maritime partnerships with African nations, which helps improve regional maritime safety and security.

Cmdr Ken Anderson, USS Simpson (FFG 56) Commanding Officer, said:

SIMPSON Sailors are excited about our visit to Mauritius and look forward to experiencing the people and culture. During our visit we will have the opportunity to work with several nations as we participate in CUTLASS EXPRESS 2015. This opportunity to train together will strengthen the interoperability between our navies and promote a stronger collective presence in the area.

U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied, joint, and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
