USCG Escorts USS Nimitz into Its New Homeport

During its recent transit to the Naval Base Kitsap-Bremerton, Washinton, the US Navy’s aircraft carrier USS Nimitz was escorted by the US coast guard.

The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Swordfish, as well as the Navy crews, kept their eyes wide open while navigating through the foggy Puget Sound waterways on Jan. 13, 2015.

USCGC Swordfish maintained a security perimeter during the escort operation. The 87-foot Coast Guard Cutters Osprey assisted in the operation of safely moving the supercarrier into its new homeport of Bremerton.
