CPPD Welcomes Commander Navy Reserve Forces Command

Commander, Navy Reserve Forces Command Rear Adm. Eric Young visited the Center for Personal and Professional Development (CPPD) Dec. 12 for an overview of the command’s training and education operations.

CPPD Commanding Officer Capt. F. A. Reid hosted Young during the tour of CPPD headquarters. The CPPD team presented Young with a brief on CPPD’s diverse products and services that support Sailors to help them develop their ability to think critically, act responsibly and lead proactively and reach their personal and professional goals.

Young is responsible for ensuring the readiness of every Reserve Sailor, unit and command across the Navy Reserve force. This includes medical readiness, benefits, training, pay, drill schedules and personnel assignment, as well as Returning Warrior Workshops and programs.

CPPD provides a wide range of courses and materials including General Military Training, Navy instructor training, alcohol and drug awareness program training, suicide prevention, bearings classes, and Personal Responsibility and Values Education and Training (PREVENT) classes. CPPD’s leadership training is delivered multiple times throughout a Sailor’s career via command-delivered enlisted leadership training material and officer leadership courses in a schoolhouse setting.

CPPD also administers Navy Voluntary Education (VOLED), which includes programs such as tuition assistance and United Services Military Apprenticeship Program.

Young said:

The training our Sailors receive at CPPD ensures that they are able to assess risk, apply critical thinking skills and execute the Navy mission successfully in any battle space.
