Preparations Continue for Phoenix Express 2015

Maritime professionals from North Africa, Europe and the U.S. started another round of planning for Phoenix Express 2015 at the NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Center in Souda Bay, Greece, Dec. 2.

The four-day planning event, the second of three before exercise execution in spring 2015, seeks to further develop exercise scenarios aligned with specific mission sets in order to provide exercise participants opportunities to test skills in real-world settings.

Col. William Nemeth, future operations director, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa/U.S. 6th Fleet, said:

The Mediterranean Sea is greatly important and is why each of us is here. The Mediterranean is one of the oldest sea transit routes in the world. We must work together, sharing information, to keep it safe and secure so that commerce can freely flow through it.
