Alexander Nevsky Tests Bulava Missile

The Russian Navy’s Borei class submarine Alexander Nevsky, of the Northern Fleet, successfully tested a SLBM Bulava ballistic missile in the Barents Sea.

The Russian Department of Defence announced on Friday that the missile was launched from a submerged position toward the Kura test site on Russia’s Kamchatka peninsula, and arrived successfully at its destination.

Bulava, a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM), was deployed in 2013 on the new Borei class of ballistic missile nuclear submarines. It is considered to be the most expensive weapons project in Russia.
