USS Mount Whitney, USS Cole Leave Constanta, Romania

The U.S. 6th Fleet command and control ship USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20) and the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Cole (DDG 67) departed Constanta, Romania, following a scheduled port visit, Oct. 23.

Mount Whitney and Cole’s visit to Romania provided Sailors with the opportunity to engage with their Romanian counterparts on both a professional and personal level.

Lt. Cmdr. Tammy S. Royal, Mount Whitney executive officer, said:

Luncheons are a perfect way to get to know who you are working with on a deeper level; when you are working and operating side by side in a serious environment it can be difficult to get to know your counterparts. It gives you the opportunity to learn about your guests and their culture.
