New Commander of EODMU 3 Appointed

Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 3 held a change of command ceremony Sept. 26 at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, Calif.

 

During the ceremony, Cmdr. John D. Porter relieved Cmdr. Lawrence E. Hall as commanding officer of EODMU 3.

Hall, who enlisted in the Navy in May 1985, is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic University and was commissioned an ensign in 1996. He is scheduled to retire from the Navy in 2015, after 30 years of service.

Porter thanked family members, the Sailors of EODMU 3, EOD leadership, and other EOD personnel in attendance for their prior and future support and closed the ceremony with,

“Hooyah, Mobile Unit 3! God Bless America.”

Porter enlisted in the Navy in 1989 and is a graduate of Auburn University. He received his commissioned in May 1999.

EODMU 3 provides operational EOD capabilities required for the location, identification, rendering safe, recovery, field evaluation and disposal of all explosive ordnance, including chemical and nuclear weapons.
