NATO MARCOM Gets New Deputy Commander

NATO Allied Maritime Command (MARCOM) welcomed aboard its new Deputy Commander (DCOM), Vice Admiral Bruno Paulmier (FRA N), on September 1.

Vice Admiral Paulmier brings a wealth of command operational experience to his posting as DCOM MARCOM. His command tours afloat include command of the light frigate FS COMMANDANT BOUAN, the frigate FS VENDEMIAIRE, and the ASW destroyer FS TOURVILLE.

His flag officer assignments include senior advisor for long-term studies on the French Joint Staff; Deputy Secretary General for the Sea, where he advised the French Prime Minister on all policies and matters regarding maritime areas and maritime security affairs; President of the Standing Commission for Programs and Trials of the Fleet, responsible for testing and commissioning the new ships of the French Navy; and advisor to the Minister of Defence for coordination of maritime security issues.

“I am very pleased to be joining this team of maritime professionals from across the Alliance,” said Vice Admiral Paulmier. “NATO faces numerous challenges ahead in the maritime domain, and I look forward to the opportunity to help guide MARCOM through them.”

Vice Admiral Paulmier relieved Vice Admiral Christian Canova, who is retiring from the French Navy.
