Two Chinese Warships Dock in Tanzania

On Sunday, two Chinese Navy ships dropped their anchors in Dar es Salaam Port, Tanzania for a four-day visit, Tanzania Daily News writes.

The visit represents the first port call of the Chinese task group having completed escort missions in the Gulf of Aden. The task force has been patrolling the Gulf since August this year and is membered by LPD Jing Gangshan, FFG and a supply ship Tai Hu.

According to the Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania, Dr Lu Youquing, who was among the officials to welcome the ship, the visit is aimed at boosting ties between the navies of the two countries by sharing mutual knowledge and experience along with cultural exchange.

Within the framework of the visit, numerous activities are planned to take place such tours of warships, exercise demonstrations as well as exchange of courtesy visits for high-ranking officials including Commander of Tanzania Navy, Chief of Defence Forces and other high dignitaries from defence and political circles.
